Using Videos To Work on Inferential Skills:
Participants will have fun learning how to incorporate YouTube videos into their speech sessions to work on responding to inferential questions and the benefits of having high expectations of our students and going beyond the yes/no and WH questions.
Using Free Websites to Build Tier 2 Vocabulary:
There are many free websites and tools out there that SLPs can use virtually or in person that can provide engaging lessons to target Tier 2 vocabulary words. Hallie will demonstrate the benefit of focusing vocabulary instruction on Tier 2 vocabulary words and free websites that will help clinicians teach it and practice understanding and using Tier 2 vocabulary words with their school-aged students.
Incorporating Technology into Speech Therapy:
Participants will learn fun and free tools available online that they can easily incorporate into their therapy rooms, virtually or in person. They will walk away with a variety of new activities to add to their toolbox that can be used to target a variety of goals.
Working on Comprehension Without Texts:
Participants will learn ways to work on main idea, summarizing, and making inferences without using texts. They will learn the benefits of starting without texts to work on these comprehension skills and low-prep therapy ideas they can use right away with their speech therapy students.

They will learn how to adapt lessons to easily target a variety of speech goals, how to work on comprehension goals using wordless picture books, and how to keep students engaged and motivated without incorporating texts.

Building Vocabulary for Older Speech Students:
Attendees will learn more about why our speech and language students struggle with vocabulary, the impact of having difficulties with vocabulary, and ways to target vocabulary in their speech and language sessions. Attendees will learn about the three Tiers of vocabulary, the benefits of focusing on Tier 2 vocabulary, and ways to build long-term memory with new vocabulary words. Learn easy-to-prepare activities that will build Tier 2 and Tier 3 vocabulary!
Fun & Functional Ways to Work On Critical Thinking with Older Speech Students:
Attendees will learn about our role as SLPs in working on comprehension goals, how to work on critical thinking concepts in a way that our students can grasp it, and easy-to-prepare activities to work on making inferences. Attendees will learn about using Bloom’s Taxonomy to understand where to start with their students and the benefits of incorporating a variety of activity types to keep students motivated and engaged.

Full Day Workshop
Fun & Functional Therapy Ideas for School-Based SLPs:
This full-day training will cover all topics from vocabulary, articulation, social skills, and comprehension. Participants will learn practical ideas they can use in their therapy rooms the very next day and have the opportunity to try out some of the digital materials and resources that Hallie will share. There will be a “make and take” where attendees will create their own digital games and share their creations with their fellow attendees so that they walk away with even more therapy resources they can add to their toolbox.
